are a traditional family run Kentish market garden farm in the peaceful village of Preston, central to Canterbury, Whitstable,
Dover, Ramsgate and Sandwich. On the farm we grow cherries, plums and a
large variety of vegetables for supply to local shops and restaurants. We
can supply campers with our fresh seasonal fruit, veg and eggs. Within 500m of
the farm we are lucky to have a local shop, butcher, garden centre/cafe
and a very friendly pub, The Half Moon and Seven
, which serves good food and has occasional live music.
Our generously sized
pitches are sited amongst our traditional cherry orchard, which blossoms in
Spring and is leafy and full of fruit in Summer. The orchard is bounded with
high Kentish hedges of hawthorn and alder, which give protection from the
wind and a peaceful ambience. The toilets and showers are in the old
pigsty block and there are separate eco-friendly urinals. To the front of the
pigsty block there are three kitchen sinks, one larder fridge, two
fridge/freezers and phone charging facilities.
We can also supply fire pits and logs for a small charge, but do not allow fires directly on the grass. Use of fires is at campers own risk to personal property.
There are a
significant number of places of interest within easy reach. There are numerous
footpaths criss-crossing our area that lead to surrounding villages
through woods and along rivers, including the Wantsum Walk
the Saxon Shore Way
We are situated
on National Cycle Route 1
with Stodmarsh National Nature Reserve
but a mile away. Canoewild
available at nearby Grove Ferry or perhaps you might like to catch the
riverbus down to Richborough castle or all the way to Sandwich (summers
, Howletts Animal Park
WildWood are all nearby, as are the beaches of Margate and Broadstairs,
famous for their golden sands and seafront entertainment.
Local to us there are
a several vineyards and cider producers plus numerous country inns serving
excellent local food and ales. For historic interest Richborough, Deal, Walmer
and Dover castles are well worth a visit, as are the towers at Reculver which
were used by Barnes Wallis to perfect his famous bouncing bomb. The old
Ramsgate tunnels are an amazing feat of engineering over 3 miles long, but
pre-booking is essential or have a relaxing day out in the medieval towns of
Sandwich or Canterbury.
